The Voppie Strategy : Implement a Reciprocal Linking Program
Carefully chosen reciprocal linking is great free advertising and assists with search engine placement. Voppie helps you, and others, to find and trade suitable reciprocal links... and it's free.
HOW?
When you list your URL with Voppie your own Special Page is created. On that page, you can indicate whether you are interested in trading reciprocal links with other web sites.
If you are, your Special Voppie Page includes this line:
Reciprocal Links Wanted :: Click for details...
If you do "Click for details", a pop-up window provides the HTML code to set up the link, along with email links so the other web master can get in touch with you.
And... while you're browsing Voppie, keep an eye out for sites you can approach to trade links with!
WHY TRADE LINKS?
Done properly, a reciprocal linking program has several significant benefits:
- it's free advertising for your site
- it always drives traffic, even if your marketing budget dries up
- reciprocal links are fairly stable and are a good long term source of traffic
- search engines like sites with a good quantity of relevant and organised incoming and OUTgoing links
- reciprocal links are low maintenance once in place
- it provides relevant fresh content for your visitors. A good links section can actually grow to become a valuable resource for your visitors
- can help you meet and establish contact with potential joint venture partners
While the traffic that comes from a reciprocal link program is (essentially) free, putting those links in place does have a cost. It takes time (and maybe) money to build an effective linking program.
Done correctly, a solid reciprocal linking program can greatly enhance the value and equity of your web site with the extra content, search engine listings/rankings, and extra long term traffic.
Warning!!!
Building an "effective" linking program, does NOT mean having one page with literally hundreds of disorganised links on it! That offers nothing for your visitors, and does even less for the search engines (you may even get penalised for it).
A properly constructed welcome page leading to many sub-category pages of relevant links is the best way to start building a serious linking campaign...
It is certainly more likely to encourage other webmasters to trade links with you when they see some useful structure relevant to them.
